IMG_0929Quick stop into this restaurant located at Mercat de Santa Catarina in El Born. The market was nicely redone in the 2000s after having to stop every other day because of archaeological discoveries, which happens at most construction in Barcelona. The restaurant is surprisingly huge and takes up a big part of the side of the building, in an open and modern space with the kitchens in plain view. There’s a tapas bar (where we went) and table seating and business is good it seems. The restaurant is run by Tragaluz which also has Pez Vela at the W and Bar Lobo in Raval among others around Catalunya.

Started off with carpaccio with foie and grilled vegetables, the carpaccio is a personal favourite. Both dishes are recommended. Second came some sushi which was good but the rice was not correctly done and fell apart all over, a good try, but stick to the local cuisine. Prices are average, but for 2 people we spent about 30€, depends on your choices.

Usually it’s not too difficult to get in, maybe a little waiting at peak hours. Leave your name on the list and take a walk around the market…
